• Phase 1 improvements on Brinkley Road to make walking and biking around Blackman area schools safer. Infrastructure Executive Director Chris Griffith explains the challenges of the project completed by Bell Construction. Phase 1 has been completed with a new bridge over Overall Creek. • A new Historical Marker honoring Dr. James Patterson (1887-1969) tells the history of a noted African American native son who dedicated his life to helping others. A WW I veteran and dentist for over 40 years, Patterson worked to improve race relations in Murfreesboro. • Juneteenth celebrated freedom in Murfreesboro with a gathering at Bradley Academy Museum & Cultural Center. Marcus Lucas noted how the event annually celebrates “Freedom Day” with food, music, art and more. Juneteenth is short for June 19th–the day Union soldiers notified Texas slaves of freedom through the Emancipation Proclamation two and a half years after the historic document was signed by President Lincoln https://youtu.be/pU8WnMGEXgY          
• Downtown Murfreesboro may soon get an 8-acre mixed-use redevelopment along Broad, Vine, and Church streets. Watch as developers share their fine-tuned vision with the City Council after first sharing the Concept Plan in Oct. 2022.
