Congressman Scott DesJarlais, representing Tennessee's 4th District, has been appointed as the chair of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee for the 119th U.S. Congress. This subcommittee is responsible for overseeing policies related to strategic deterrence, strategic stability, nuclear weapons, missile defense, and space within the Department of Defense and Department of Energy.
In a statement regarding his new role, DesJarlais expressed enthusiasm: “I am also excited to announce my new chairmanship on the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee. Tennessee’s military installations are some of the best in the country and I know that the hard work of this committee will continue to advance our capabilities. I want to thank Chairman Mike Rogers for the privilege to serve in this capacity.”
The appointment was announced today from Washington D.C., with credit given to a Defense Visual Information Distribution Service event held in August 2023 during a Congressional Delegation (CODEL) visit to Singapore.
