Mayor Shane McFarland discusses the City’s major 2022 accomplishments in his latest “State of the City.” The interview discussion with Public Information Officer Mike Browning is airing on CityTV and available to watch on YouTube and Facebook at https://youtu.be/ksw9x8ULhOo.

Mayor McFarland addresses accomplishments and challenges in managing a growing city, particularly infrastructure needs and costs. Among the key highlights of the interview: 

 

The Community Investment Trust providing proceeds to the City from the sale of the MEDDowntown Redevelopment, including daylighting Town Creek for a future park and Broad Street multiuse re-development  The Notes Live Amphitheater entertainment venue with an anticipated groundbreaking in 2023  The new Municipal Airport terminal as an attractive gateway to the City Solid Waste alternatives to Middle Point Landfill including the design contract with WastAway Road Improvements and bridges to ease traffic congestion including Medical Center Parkway Phase I Richard Siegel Soccer Complex improvements, including the new Indoor Soccer Practice Facility opening in 2023. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled Friday, March 24th The planned West Park design following the property swap with Middle Tennessee ElectricGreenway expansion in North Murfreesboro providing more trails for the distinctive City feature Public Safety enhancements including MPD Body Cameras, the Mental Health Co-Responder Program, the Homelessness Task Force, and retention, and recruitment   Increasing Water and Sewer capacity for future growth with pump station upgrades and Water Resources Recovery Facility expansion Award-winning recognition in financial reporting and more top-10 rankings
