Learn about the Sheriff's Office operations
Residents may learn about SWAT, investigations and K9s during the spring Sheriff’s Citizens Academy class sponsored by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
There is still room for more residents to register for the free class from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Tuesday beginning April 4 for 11 weeks at the Sheriff’s Office at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.
The classes include touring the Adult Detention Center, practicing “shoot or don’t shoot” scenarios and learning about patrol, criminal investigations and other divisions.
Interested citizens should contact Sgt. Gary Herron of the Community Services Unit by calling 615-904-3019 or by emailing gherron@rcsotn.org to request an application.
“This is an opportunity to learn about all the services and the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s Office,” Herron said.
