Residents invited to take Sheriff's Citizens Academy class

Jail tours, an overview of division functions and shoot or don’t shoot scenarios will be some topics of the upcoming Sheriff’s Citizens Academy.

The class gives citizens an inside look at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. The class is open to 25 citizens and is free.

Classes meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., every Tuesday beginning April 4 for 11 weeks at the Sheriff’s Office at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.

Interested citizens should contact Sgt. Gary Herron of the Community Services Unit by calling 615-904-3019 or by emailing gherron@rcsotn.org to request an application.
