Los Lynx picked up their first SAA win of the season Tuesday afternoon in a dominant win over the Hendrix College Warriors! The Lynx have now won six straight SAA season openers. 

The first half for the Lynx was driven by their defensive effort. The Lynx held Hendrix to 14.7% shooting in the half (22.2% in the 1st / 6.3% in the 2nd) and forced 10 turnovers. The Warriors were held scoreless for a 7 minute stretch between the 1st and 2nd quarters. The Lynx were able to build a commanding lead during this stretch and never looked back. The Lynx won the rebounding battle (31-23), and had an impressive 18 offensive rebounds in the 1st half, leading to 10 second chance points. Giana Vlahakos led all first half rebounders with 6, followed by birthday girl Catherine Althoff with 5.  Taylor Dupree played tremendous paint defense and finished the half with 4 blocks. On the offensive end of the ball, Alexys Mathangani led the way for the Lynx and was the first half scoring leader with 10 points. The Lynx held the Warriors to 0 fast break points while scoring 12 themselves. Another example of how their defensive effort fueled them all game. 

The 2nd half was much of the same for the Lynx. The Warriors showed some fight in the 3rd quarter, but the Lynx were able to keep them at bay and eventually increased their lead to 20 by the end of the quarter. In the 4th, the Lynx largest lead grew to 27 and at the buzzer the Lynx won 61-41 over the Warriors. Mathangani was great and finished the game with 18 pts, 7 reb, and 4 assists. Dupree continued her defensive dominance in the 2nd half and finished the game with 6 blocks, a season-high. Taya Lee was extremely active on the boards and finished with 7 rebounds along with 6 points. Avery Marsh helped keep the offense flowing and tied with Mathangani for the team lead for assist with 4. Libby Long knocked down 3 threes for the Lynx and finished with 11 points.
