Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Seven Deputies Complete Detention Training

Seven deputies complete detention training

Seven deputies completed training to work at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

Jail Administrator Kevin Henderson and Capt. Curtis Little presented certificates to new Deputies Christian Salter, Jennifer Parker, Jennifer Summers, Michael Urban, Shelby Earls, Tierrinee Watts and Tyler Morgan.

Training Sgt. Phillip Davis said the training included classroom instruction and spending time on the job with a field training officer.

Classroom training included: 

• Emergency responses.

• Tower operations and central control.

• Officer safety.

• Control of illegal drugs.

• Escort of inmates.

• Verbal de-escalation and use of force.

• Inmates’ rights, grievances and discipline processes.

• Cultural diversity.

• Suicide prevention and mental health training.

• Jail management system.

• Inmate communication.

• Chemical weapon certification.

• Duty to intervene.
