86 pounds of unused drugs collected
Residents brought 86 pounds of unused and expired medications and prescription drugs Saturday during the national Drug Take Back Day.
Sgt. Robert Dowell and Deputy Michael Heller collected the medicines brought in by residents.
Disposing of the drugs keeps the medications from being flushed an deposited in the water system.
The drugs will be incinerated.
People who were unable to bring unused drugs to the collection Saturday may drop medicines anytime in a bin just inside the main lobby (behind the flag pole) of the Sheriff's Office at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.
