Middle Tennessee's men's and women's track teams performed well in the first meet of the indoor season just up the road at the Commodore Invitational. The women's team claimed one event title in the high jump from Abigail Kwarteng, while the men's team took three event titles.

Alaba Akintola put together two great days over the weekend at the Commodore Challenge. He finished first overall in the men's 60m race with a time of 6.59, which set a new school record and ranks as an NCAA top five time. Akintola won two event titles himself by also taking first in the 200m race. Hillary Kimaiyo won the 1000m with a time of 2:26.34.

For the Blue Raider women's team, Lesego Mphse had a second place finish in the 3000m race. Mphse's finish came in a time of 9.59.99. In the women's mile run, Mercy Chepkurui placed 11th with a time of 5:04.14.

What's next for the Blue Raiders?
The men's and women's track and field teams will be back in Nashville, Tenn., for The Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 20-21. Field events will start at 11:00 a.m. and running events at noon.
