Middle Tennessee men's basketball started off the Northern Classic with a 64-54 win over Hofstra at Place Bell on Friday. DeAndre Dishman's emphatic slam dunk and Elias King's three-pointer in front of the Blue Raider bench put the exclamation points on the victory in the closing seconds.
Middle Tennessee exercised its length advantage over Hofstra, forcing 14 turnovers and gathering 14 offensive rebounds. The Blue Raiders enjoyed a 40-26 scoring advantage in the paint.
Dishman led MTSU with a season-high 19 points. King had a second straight career game, recording his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and a career-best 10 rebounds. By the Numbers 8: The Blue Raiders threw down a season-high eight dunks, led by Teafale Lenard's four. 2: King's two blocked shots were also a career high. 5: Lenard set a new career high with five assists.
