Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association awards scholarships

Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh presented Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association $500 college scholarships to children of Sheriff’s Office employees.

Students earning the scholarships are:

• Ethan Barnes, son of Lt. Chuck Barnes.

• Kiley Barrett, daughter of Lt. Kenneth Barrett.

• Jadyn Davis, daughter of Sgt. J.D. Davis.

• Hannah Hailey, daughter of Capt. David Hailey.

• Ryan Haynes, son of Capt. Chris Haynes.

• Max Larsen, son of Deputy Jeff Degennaro.

The scholarships are based on ACT or SAT scores, grade point average, an essay, a letter of recommendation from an educator and the sheriff and acceptance from an accredited college or university in Tennessee.

“We are happy to present scholarships to these outstanding students,” Fitzhugh said.

The students are attending MTSU, Motlow State Community College and Columbia State Community College.
