About 15.9 percent of the 4,903 degrees and certificates handed out by Middle Tennessee State University in 2017-18 were to students in business, management, marketing, and related support services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Murfreesboro conferred 656 bachelor's degrees and 124 master's degrees in business, management, marketing, and related support services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies. Data shows the school gave out 346 bachelor's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies, followed by 238 bachelor's degrees in mass communication/media studies and 205 bachelor's degrees in music management.

The university enrolled 21,631 students for 2017-18, including 19,252 in undergraduate programs and 2,379 in graduate programs.
