Alexis Whittington, Courtney Whitson and Jalynn Gregory have been named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, announced Tuesday. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.5 GPA. 

Whittington, a graduate student studying professional studies with a cumulative GPA of 3.75, became Middle Tennessee's career games played leader earlier this season in her 135th appearance Jan. 16 at UAB. A Murfreesboro, Tenn., native, Whittington will participate in WBCA's "So You Want to Be a Coach" program March 30-31 during the WBCA Convention in Dallas, Texas. Over her five-year career at Middle Tennessee, Whittington has 853 points, 567 rebounds, 199 assists and 164 steals. 

Whitson, who is majoring in english with a minor in athletic coaching, holds a 3.52 GPA and is working her way up on several program career lists. Whitson is fifth on the rebounding list (798) and sixth on the program's 3-point list (216). Whitson's achievements off the court include a 2021-22 All-Academic Team member, 2021-22 C-USA Spirit of Service winner, a two-time recipient of C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and being heavily involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Gregory, a psychology major minoring in biology and chemistry, posts a 3.54 cumulative GPA.  Gregory leads C-USA and ranks 34th in the nation in three-pointers per game (2.62) and ranks third in the conference in minutes per game (35.7). A sophomore guard out of Lafayette, Tenn., Gregory was recognized on the 2021-22 Commissioner's Honor Roll and 2021-22 C-USA All-Freshman Team. Through 60 career games, Gregory has 690 points, 216 rebounds, 95 steals and 111 assists. 

Fifteen student-athletes from C-USA were named Academic All-District honorees. The three Lady Raiders and the other honorees advance to the ballot for the CSC Academic All-America teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, March 15.
